A Final Cleanout: Public Surplus Sale at the James Monroe Building

أكتوبر 20، 2026

As the James Monroe Building moves through its decommissioning phase, teams across DGS have been working diligently behind the scenes to usher it into its next chapter. The Division of Real Estate Services (DRES), the Offices of Information System Services (ISS), the Division of Capitol Square Services (DCSS), and the Office of Business Services have each played a vital role in relocating state agencies and preparing the building for its eventual sale. Their coordination and dedication have ensured a smooth transition while setting the stage for what comes next.

As part of this process, DGS is excited to host a final public surplus sale on Saturday, November 7, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Parking will be available behind the Annex Building. Staff and the public alike will have the opportunity to shop for office furniture at affordable prices. Need a sturdy filing cabinet? A solid wood table? A supportive desk chair for your home office for as little as $25? If you’re teleworking more and looking to upgrade your home workspace, this is the perfect opportunity.

Mark your calendar, bring your wallet, help us clear out the building, and give this furniture a second life. It’s a great deal for your home, your workspace, and the environment.
